چکیده

A group of seven male participants [aged 22,9 (SD = 0,9) years] twice performed, a two-leg extension effort lasting a total of 4 minutes with a 30% intensity of maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), in the sitting (ST) and two days later in the supine position (SU). At rest, during each minute of exercise and the 4 minute recovery period the following variables were measured: heart rate (HR), stroke volume (SV), cardiac output (CO) by impedance cardiography system, systolic (SP) and diastolic blood pressures (DP) by the Korotkof method. Mean arterial blood pressure (MP) and total peripherial resistance (TPR) were also calculated. It was observed that at rest the SV was significantly higher, but HR, DP and MP were lower in SU when compared to ST (p < 0,05). Moreover during exercise these indices decreased more in the SU than in ST position when compared to the resting values. HR, DP and MP were enhanced in both the tested positions, but CO and SP were significantly higher in both positions as compared to the resting values. From our study it was concluded that the adaptability of the cardiovascular system during isometric exercise is based on changes in the left ventricular afterload, different in various body position with simultaneous suppressed baroreceptor reflexes.

Choroidal blood flow regulation after posture change or isometric exercise in men with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

PURPOSE Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) syndrome generates hypertension, atherosclerosis, and endothelial and autonomic dysfunction, which may mutually interact with ocular vascular regulation. Exercise and posture changes can be used to manipulate blood pressure, ocular perfusion pressure (OPP), or both. It was hypothesized that choroidal vascular reactivity in response to isometric exercise and...

VASTUS MEDIALIS OBLIQUE AND VASTUS LATERALISACTIVITIES RATIO ON SELECTED DEGREES OF RANGE OF MOTION IN OPEN AND CLOSED KINETIC CHAIN DURING ISOMETRIC CONTRACTION

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the ratio of Electromyography (EM G) activities of the vastus medialis obliqus (VMO) and vastus lateralis (VL) within seven angles of knee joint range of motion using isometric contraction in open kinetic chain (OK C) and closed kinetic chain (CKC). Methods: The dominant knees of 44 healthy female subjects (mean age: 24.84 with range...

Influence of demographic and metabolic variables on forearm blood flow and vascular conductance in individuals without overt heart disease

PURPOSE Vascular reactivity is involved in the regulation of vascular function either in normal conditions or in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases. We tested the hypothesis that vascular reactivity evaluated by forearm blood flow may vary according to demographic and metabolic variables in a cohort of individuals without any evidence of heart disease after clinical examination. S...
